Chrysalis After-School

Created in 1998, Chrysalis After-School is our signature program designed to help young girls negotiate the developmental, social, and interpersonal challenges of their lives. The program encompasses a comprehensive curriculum including academics, life skills, volunteerism, health, and women’s history. Chrysalis After-School also emphasizes financial literacy and career options to prepare girls for future educational opportunities, nontraditional careers and leadership opportunities.

When girls take part in program design and implementation, we show them they are listened to and valued. They see their own potential, build their confidence, and develop leadership skills. Because of this, their school attendance and performance improves, they are healthier and happier, and expand their goals and dreams.

Chrysalis After-School has invested nearly $3,000,000 in the futures of thousands of girls. Our participants report statistically higher results compared to girls not in the Chrysalis After-School program in the following areas:

  • Intent to finish high school
  • Ability to resist peer pressure
  • Willingness to take responsibility for actions
  • Understanding that working hard today makes a successful future
