2009-2010 CHRYSALIS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

President: San Wong

San Wong has been Associate Provost of the Urban Campus of Des Moines Area Community College since 1997, where she also served as Interim Provost during leadership transition. Born in West Malaysia, Wong came to the University of Nebraska/Omaha for undergraduate work and received a Master's degree from Kansas State University . Currently in the Educational Leadership doctoral program at Iowa State University, Wong is also a Board member for the Morris Scholarship Fund and chairs the Iowa Asian Alliance.

Vice-President: Renee Hardman

For 12 years, Hardman has served Bankers Trust as Senior Vice President of Human Resources. Previously an officer with the Iowa Department of Personnel, she holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from Drake University. Hardman's many honors include Business Record "Woman of Influence," "Big Sister of the Year"(Big Brothers/Sisters), and the State of Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award. She is currently involved in community boards including the Links, Inc. (President), Hope Ministries, and Youth Emergency Services and Shelter.

Secretary: Lisa A. Nakashima

Lisa Nakashima is a Business Systems Consultant for Wells Fargo. Her job duties include communications, financial management/analysis, and compliance for the IT team supporting a range of business operations departments for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Born and raised in Hawaii, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Drake University and has held positions with QCI Consulting, Cap Gemini, Downtown Partnership, and Girl Scouts of Moingona Council. Nakashima was president and a board member for the YWCA of Greater Des Moines, and served as Vice President and national board member for the YWCA of the USA.

Treasurer: Lynn Walz

Lynn Walz is a recently retired partner with Ernst & Young LLP, having received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in accounting from the University of Iowa. Her community volunteer roles include the executive committee and board of the Iowa Games, Iowa Council for International Understanding and Des Moines Club boards.

Immediate Past President: Lou Ann Sandburg, CFA, FLMI

Lou Ann Sandburg, CFA, FLMI, recently retired Vice President - Investments for FBL Financial Group. As a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Fellow of Life Management Institute Research, Sandburg is past president and board member of the Iowa Society of Financial Analysts. She is a graduate of Iowa State University and has served on community boards including the United Way of Central Iowa, Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines.

Rachel Eubank:  Rachel Eubank is the National Sales Representative for Sticks, Inc. and is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where she earned a degree in Political Science and certificate in Museum Studies. During college, she studied Industrial Democracies at the Universitat Luneburg in Germany. Eubank was co-founder and president of "Women in Politics" at the University of Iowa, past board member of the Des Moines 20/30 Society, and an active volunteer with the Des Moines Playhouse.

Rhonda Fingerman: Fingerman is the current Business Manger and Patient Liaison at the IBD Center for Mercy Medical Center Des Moines.  Previously she owned (and created) the Whatever gift and home accessory store. Born and raised in Des Moines, she graduated from Drake University and has served on several local boards and committees in Greater Des Moines, including: Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center, and the Des Moines Public Schools Library Support Group, The Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa, The Des Moines Art Center, and the Des Moines Playhouse.

Anne Fogarty: As Assistant Director of Information Technology for Principal Bank, a member of the Principal Financial Group, Fogarty manages system applications and operations. A graduate of Iowa State University, Fogarty held positions with General Mills, Inc., Eli Lilly and Company in Paris, and Andersen Consulting, and is a member of Junior League of Des Moines and the United Way 's Emerging Leaders Initiative.

Danielle Foster-Smith: Foster-Smith is Staff Litigation Counsel for GuideOne Insurance of West Des Moines, receiving her BA degree from Drake University and JD Degree from Drake University Law School. Previous Board positions include Drake University National Advisory Board, Planned Parenthood, and Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Christine Halbrook: Halbrook is a native to Des Moines and a graduate of Drake University Law School, where she was a member of the Drake Law Review. Christine graduated from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics with a dual concentration in marketing and communications.

Debbie Hubbell: As a community volunteer for 25 years, Hubbell has focused her efforts on early childhood, education, and the arts. She currently serves on a number of boards and committees and is active with the United Way Women’s Leadership Connection, promoting early childhood learning opportunities to improve school readiness. Hubbell has been a presenter for national conferences including Smart Start (North Carolina) and the National United Way Women’s Leadership Summit on early childhood issues and the philanthropic power of women.

Marcia Munger: Munger is a realtor with Burnett Realty and active with many local organizations, including Bras for the Cause and the Drake Relays, She has also been an active Chrysalis volunteer as chair of the 2008 and 2009 HerStory events.

Debra Salowitz: Salowitz established and is President of Salowitz Relocation Solutions, LLC, through which she provides consultation as guidance in the corporate recruiting process. Her career includes management positions with WineFest, Innova Training and Development, the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, and Behavioral Health Resources. She has served on community Boards including the Ballet Theatre of Des Moines and Des Moines Gay Men's Chorus; she is a member of the Nexus Executive Women's Alliance and the Joy Breakfast Club.

Patrice Sayre: Sayre received a Bachelor’s Degree from Iowa State University and a Master’s Degree in accounting from Drake University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor, and has served in accounting, auditing, and financial research positions with Drake University, University of Iowa, City of Des Moines, and as a contract accountant/auditor for Family Planning Council of Iowa and Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa. She currently serves on the Audit Committee for Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa, the Finance Committee for the YWCA of Greater Des Moines, The PPGI Book Sale Committee, and the Finance Committee of the Family Planning Council of Iowa (FPCI).

Donna Tweeten: Tweeten is AVP of Communications/Marketing for Hy-Vee, Inc., and past Senior Vice President of the Meyocks Group, a Des Moines-based advertising agency. She is a graduate of Drake University.

Maria Volante: Volante is Senior Vice President of Dardis Communications, previously working at the Principal Financial Group where she was Vice President of the National Accounts Division. An Iowa native, Maria is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a BBA in Marketing.   Maria and her husband David live in Urbandale, Iowa.

Judy M. Winkelpleck: Winkelpleck is previously the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Previous to this post, she was in management with Pioneer Hi-Bred International and at Iowa State University.  Her graduate degrees from Iowa State University include a Ph.D. in organizational research, and she is active on boards dealing with concerns of women, new Americans, and counseling.

CHRYSALIS STAFF:

Executive Director: Terry M. Hernandez

Hernandez served as first Executive Director for the Chrysalis Foundation from 1997-2000, and returned to the position in 2004. Her career includes positions as Director of Marketing and Public Relations with Iowa Lutheran Hospital and the YMCA of Greater Des Moines, and was co-founder of Iowa Women in Public Policy. Director of Development and Communications: Leslie L. Garman

Garman joined Chrysalis as the third staff member in October of 2006. Her career includes nearly two years as a Development Director for the Mercy Foundation supporting the work of the House of Mercy, and nearly two decades with the American Heart Association of Iowa, serving nearly 13 years as the Metro Executive Director. Finance and Data Manager: Pamela Davis

Davis has been with Chrysalis since 2002, having worked in the nonprofit arena for over 25 years. She was previously with the Greater Des Moines Chamber Federation, the Soil and Water Conservation Society, and the American Agricultural Economics Association. Administrative Assistant: Elisabeth Huston
